I love this sequence; so delicately portrayed. The power shifts from both parties and not just logically. The ego plays a big part. They both say things they wouldn't intend. Unfortunately, the Bishop's character allows him no other course of direction but the cards are on the table.
Great music abley presented by William Christie, but blighted by out of place dancing of La La La Human steps, no wonder they folded.

Un 🎥 film merveilleux ❤❤❤❤❤❤j'adore Édith Piaf ❤❤❤❤mes parents dcd l'ont vu dans les années 1960, chanter sur scène, je trouve que le réalisateur Olivier Dahan, aurait pu rajouter quelques scène où elle chantait en entier sur scène La Foule, Milord, et bien d'autres que se focaliser sur ses accidents et hospitalisation.. De plus comme disait ca dernière secrétaire et intendante et femme à tout faire Marc son accordéoniste et Danièle Bonnel de 1945 jusqu'à la fin en 1963, je n'ai pas reconnu Édith, le 🎥 film est beaucoup beaucoup trop exagéré sur le comportement de la Môme. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Talk about an embarrassing staging... certainly did not age well...Colonial patronizing at its finest...black-face et al!
is kind of a mocking to the native american? somehow even when the music is beautiful, the depiction of the indias is somehow a parody as if they where mocking them.
It is goofy and good humored and there is no mocking whatsoever; as you can check with the subtitles, the verses idealize the "savages", like a lot of literature and philosophy of the XVIIIth century, as per the myth of the "Good Savage" (which of course you could consider as a form of racism, because after all, they were just as bad as we are :-)). The staging, costumes and choreography of this particular production is a sort of spoof, not on the Indians but on the fantasy and lack of realism that prevailed in their representation at the time. But it can also be seen as homage to real Indians dances: as someone answered somebody else below, that there is such a thing as a Chicken Indian dance to this day, on another music of course (ruclips.net/video/FQftODBJb14/видео.html). Anyway, projecting our contemporary sensibilities on work from the past is a drab intellectual dead end. Be reassured that the way you think about this or that will scandalize people in the future.

I don't understand the "chicken-like" movement in this act. It's too silly for such a meaningful experience of Ramean. The choreography looks random and out of focus within the meaning of this profound and wise life experience. One doesn't have to follow the exact steps to convey a Native American style or whatever it is that this act was trying to convey. It's shallow for my taste. But who am I to judge? :)
The chicken dance is a real dance of the Native Americans, still danced today.

It’s the Chicken Dance, Native American style! 😂 The music is great and the stage director threw in some witty references (so French!) to Native American dances and traditional dress. Lots of fun.
